Honoring the compassion and generosity of loved ones with a fund-raising luncheon

What is the Loved Ones Luncheon?
Jane Hixson created the Loved Ones Luncheon in 1997, inviting other women to join her for lunch, at which time they made donations to Crisis Assistance Ministry to honor someone they love. "It is a testimony to what our loved ones taught us," says Jane, who launched the event to honor the memories of her mother-in-law, Gay Hixson, and her mother, Rosemary Bolles. In 1997, Jane held the inaugural event with 16 women, who together raised $1,200 for Crisis Assistance Ministry. Last year, 40 women donated $17,000. This year's luncheon will be held at Carpe Diem restaurant at 1535 Elizabeth Ave., which is donating food and service for the 7th consecutive year. Crisis Assistance Ministry is a Charlotte nonprofit agency that helps people avoid eviction and utility disconnection. Last year, the agency distributed more than $7.4 million in aid, assisting more than 26,000 families in need.
